This challenging route combines some of the best landscapes of Mount Rinjani, including the Rinjani Summit at 3,726 m, Sembalun Crater Rim, Segara Anak Lake, natural hot springs, and the spectacular Torean Valley.
The trek begins in Sembalun Village, where you will hike across wide savannah landscapes and gradually climb toward the crater rim. On the second day, the adventure continues with an early-morning ascent to the summit for sunrise before descending to Segara Anak Lake and the natural hot springs.
From the lake, the route continues toward the remote and scenic Torean Valley, known for its dramatic cliffs, rivers, waterfalls, and lush tropical surroundings. The final day takes you through the valley and rainforest before finishing in Torean Village.
This trek is considered challenging to very challenging and is best suited for experienced hikers who are comfortable with long trekking days, steep ascents and descents, and changing mountain conditions.
Quick Itinerary
Day 1 – Sembalun Village to Sembalun Crater Rim
After registration at the Rinjani National Park entrance, begin your trek from Sembalun Village. The trail crosses open grassland and savannah before reaching the famous Seven Hills of Sembalun.
Continue climbing toward Sembalun Crater Rim, where you will set up camp at approximately 2,639 m. In the afternoon, relax and enjoy panoramic views of Mount Rinjani, the surrounding valleys, and the coastline. If the weather is clear, the sunset from the crater rim is spectacular.
Trekking: 6–7 hours
Overnight: Sembalun Crater Rim
Day 2 – Summit, Segara Anak Lake & Torean Valley
Start very early, usually around 2:00 AM, for the challenging climb to the Rinjani Summit at 3,726 m. The final ascent is steep and covered with loose volcanic sand, but reaching the summit at sunrise offers incredible views across Lombok and beyond.
After spending time at the summit, descend back to the crater rim and continue toward Segara Anak Lake. Enjoy lunch and a well-earned rest beside the beautiful crater lake before visiting the nearby natural hot springs.
Afterward, continue toward the Torean Valley, following trails through rugged mountain landscapes and lush vegetation. Depending on conditions and trekking pace, the overnight campsite will be around the Torean/Propok area.

Day 3 – Torean Valley to Torean Village
After breakfast, continue descending through the spectacular Torean Valley. This section offers a completely different landscape, with tropical forests, natural rivers, waterfalls, cliffs, and dramatic volcanic scenery.
Follow the valley trail toward Torean Village while enjoying the peaceful surroundings and remote atmosphere. After several hours of trekking, arrive at Torean Village, where the trek officially finishes.

Day 0: Arrival, Pick-up & Preparation
Our team provides free pick-up from the following locations in Lombok:

Upon arrival, our driver will pick you up and take you to Jou Trekking Guesthouse in Senaru, our meeting point and preparation area.
Once you arrive, you can check in, relax, and prepare for your trek. Our team will provide a trekking briefing covering the itinerary, safety information, equipment, and other important details.
You can also leave your extra luggage safely at our office/guesthouse while you are trekking.
Overnight: Jou Trekking Guesthouse, Senaru
Day 1 – Senaru → Sembalun → Sembalun Crater Rim
07:00 AM – Pick up from Jou Trekking Guesthouse in Senaru and transfer to Sembalun Village.
After registration at the Rinjani National Park office, begin the trek from Sembalun Village (1,156 m). The trail follows the open savannah, passing Pos 1, Pos 2, and Pos 3.
After lunch at Pos 3, continue the challenging ascent through the famous Seven Hills toward Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 m).
Arrive at the crater rim in the afternoon. Our porters will prepare your tent while you relax and enjoy the spectacular sunset and views of Segara Anak Lake and Mount Baru Jari.
Overnight: Sembalun Crater Rim
Trekking: Approximately 6–7 hours
Day 2 – Summit → Segara Anak Lake → Torean Valley Camp
Wake up around 02:00 AM and begin the challenging climb to Mount Rinjani Summit (3,726 m).
The trail becomes steep as you climb through volcanic sand and rocky terrain. Reach the summit around sunrise and enjoy panoramic views across Lombok, Bali, and Sumbawa.
After enjoying the sunrise and taking photos, descend back to the campsite for breakfast and a short rest.
Continue the descent toward Segara Anak Lake (2,000 m). Enjoy lunch beside the lake and, if conditions allow, relax in the natural hot springs.
In the afternoon, continue toward the Torean Valley, passing through dramatic volcanic landscapes and lush mountain scenery before reaching the camping area.
Overnight: Torean Valley Camp
Trekking: Approximately 10–12 hours
Day 3 – Torean Valley → Torean Village → Transfer
After breakfast, begin the final descent through the spectacular Torean Valley.
The trail passes through tropical forest, rivers, cliffs, and waterfalls. This scenic and less-traveled section of Mount Rinjani offers beautiful views of the valley and Penimbungan Waterfall.
Continue downhill through the valley, crossing several rivers and navigating narrow sections of trail before reaching Torean Village.
After arriving at the finish point, our driver will be ready to transfer you to your next destination in Lombok.

A USD 50 booking deposit is required to secure your reservation and is non-refundable under all circumstances.
