Mount Rinjani Summit Adventure

Mount Rinjani 2 Days 1 Night Summit Trek via Sembalun (3,726 m)

The Mount Rinjani 2 Days 1 Night Summit Trek is a short but intense trekking program designed for hikers who want to reach the summit of Mount Rinjani in the shortest amount of time. Standing at 3,726 meters above sea level, Mount Rinjani is the second-highest volcano in Indonesia and one of the most spectacular mountains in Southeast Asia.

This trekking program begins from Sembalun Village, located on the eastern side of Mount Rinjani. The Sembalun route is widely known as the main access to the summit because of its gradual trail and stunning open landscapes. During the hike, trekkers will pass through wide savanna fields, rolling hills, and scenic viewpoints before reaching the Sembalun Crater Rim, where the campsite is set for the night.

From the crater rim, hikers can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the massive Segara Anak crater lake inside the Rinjani caldera. The sunset from this campsite is often one of the most memorable moments of the trek.

The highlight of the adventure takes place early the next morning. Trekkers wake up around 2:00 AM to begin the summit ascent under the stars. The final climb to the top is steep and covered with volcanic sand, making it physically demanding but incredibly rewarding.

Arriving at the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726 m) just before sunrise offers an unforgettable experience. From the top, you can witness panoramic views stretching across Lombok Island, Bali’s Mount Agung, Sumbawa Island, and the dramatic crater landscape of Rinjani itself.

Although the 2 Days 1 Night Rinjani summit trek is the fastest option to reach the peak, it requires strong physical fitness and good stamina. However, the incredible scenery, the challenge of the climb, and the rewarding sunrise from the summit make this adventure truly worthwhile for mountain lovers

Essential Packing List for Your Trek

Preparing well for your trek is important, as conditions on the mountain can change quickly. Having the right gear will keep you comfortable, safe, and ready to enjoy the adventure. Below are the essential items we recommend bringing.

Footwear

Trekking Shoes or Boots
Wear sturdy trekking shoes or boots with good grip. Make sure they are already broken in, as the trail includes rocky paths and loose volcanic sand.

Clothing

Warm Jacket
Bring a warm jacket or down jacket. Temperatures during the night and early morning can drop to around 0–5°C, especially during the summit climb.

Thermal Base Layers
Thermal tops and bottoms are recommended for sleeping and for the early morning summit trek.

Trekking Pants
Pack at least one pair of comfortable, quick-dry trekking pants suitable for long hikes.

Lightweight Pants or Shorts
For warmer sections of the trail, lightweight pants or shorts can be more comfortable.

Moisture-Wicking T-Shirts
Quick-dry shirts help keep you comfortable while hiking during the day.

Essential Accessories

Warm Hat and Gloves
Important for staying warm during the cold summit push.

Sun Protection
Bring a sun hat, cap, or buff to protect yourself from strong sun and dusty trails.

Rain Jacket or Poncho
Weather in the mountains can change quickly, so waterproof protection is essential.

Extra Socks

Bring several pairs of moisture-wicking socks. Dry feet are key to staying comfortable and preventing blisters during the trek.
