Mount Rinjani 2 Days 1 Night Summit Trek via Sembalun (3,726 m)

The Mount Rinjani 2 Days 1 Night Summit Trek via Sembalun is an intense and rewarding adventure for hikers who want to experience the summit of Mount Rinjani in just two days. Rising to 3,726 meters above sea level, Mount Rinjani is Indonesia’s second-highest volcano and one of Southeast Asia’s most spectacular mountain destinations.

The journey begins in Sembalun Village, located on the eastern side of Mount Rinjani and widely recognized as the main route to the summit. The trail starts through expansive savanna landscapes, rolling hills, and open mountain terrain, offering impressive views throughout the ascent. After several hours of trekking, you will reach the Sembalun Crater Rim at approximately 2,639 meters, where you will spend the night camping above the clouds.

From the crater rim, enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and Segara Anak Lake, nestled within the enormous Rinjani caldera. As evening approaches, the crater rim provides an incredible viewpoint for watching the sunset over the volcanic landscape.

The most challenging and rewarding part of the trek begins early the following morning. Around 2:00 AM, you will wake up and start the final ascent toward the summit beneath a sky filled with stars. The trail becomes increasingly steep, with loose volcanic sand and gravel making the final section particularly demanding. A steady pace, determination, and good stamina are essential.

After several hours of climbing, you will reach the Mount Rinjani Summit at 3,726 meters, ideally just before sunrise. As the first light appears over Lombok, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Lombok Island, Mount Agung in Bali, Sumbawa Island, Segara Anak Lake, and the dramatic volcanic landscape of Rinjani.

After enjoying the sunrise and summit views, you will begin the long descent back toward Sembalun Village, completing an unforgettable high-altitude adventure.

For hikers looking for a different Rinjani experience, our 2 Days 1 Night Senaru Crater Rim Trek offers a shorter route focused on spectacular crater-rim views without climbing to the summit. If you have more time and want to explore more of Mount Rinjani, consider our 3 Days 2 Nights Rinjani Summit Trek, which combines the summit with Segara Anak Lake and the surrounding volcanic landscapes. For a longer and more immersive adventure, our 4 Days 3 Nights Rinjani Trek provides additional time to experience the mountain, crater, lake, and scenic trekking routes at a more relaxed pace.

The 2 Days 1 Night Rinjani Summit Trek is the fastest way to experience the summit, but it is also physically demanding. The long trekking hours, steep summit ascent, early morning start, altitude, and loose volcanic terrain require good physical fitness, stamina, and proper preparation.

For hikers ready to take on the challenge, the reward is unforgettable: spectacular landscapes, a breathtaking sunrise above the clouds, and the achievement of standing at 3,726 meters on the summit of Mount Rinjani.
